Our Story -- A Garage, A roaster & a family
It started with a cup of terrible coffee.
Craig Weyer was five years old when he first sat across from his grandfather, Lawrence Fritz, before sunrise. Lawrence would rise at five in the morning and Craig would follow not long after — drawn out of bed by the smell of coffee drifting through the house. Lawrence would set out three cookies, and they’d dip them into his cup together.
“It was terrible coffee,” Craig will tell you with a grin. “But I took sips.”
It wasn’t the coffee that mattered. It was the company.
That memory — a grandfather and a grandson, quiet in the early morning, cookies and a cup between them — is the heartbeat of everything Stay Brewed is and does. Because Stay Brewed was never really about coffee. It was always about the people around the cup.
From a Kitchen Table to a Commercial Roastery
Craig and his wife Lori launched Stay Brewed Coffee & Roastery in 2019 out of their garage in Saint Anthony, Indiana — a small town rooted in the kind of faith, family, and hard work that built this country.
What started as a small roaster in a repurposed garage has grown into a commercial roastery. We converted that same garage into a licensed commercial kitchen, added a larger roaster alongside the original, and never left the neighborhood we love. Saint Anthony, Indiana is still home. It always will be.
The growth surprised even us. “We had thought it would take longer to get customers,” Craig said early on. “I seriously underestimated how fast this would take off.”
Word spread the way good things do — person to person, cup to cup. Today Stay Brewed ships fresh roasted coffee nationwide and our roasts are carried by small businesses across several states. From a garage in Indiana to front porches and kitchen tables across America.
The Name
People ask us what Stay Brewed means.
Craig’s answer has never changed: “Stay Brewed is there to highlight the journey from point A to point B. The backbone of strong communities is a good work ethic, and it’s a sweaty process. We are here to keep people on that journey, whatever it is, on their toes. Coffee’s the original energy drink.”
Stay Brewed is a call to stay the course. To hold fast to the things worth holding onto. To keep going when the morning is hard and the day is long. It’s what Lawrence modeled — working nights at Alcoa and coming home to farm during the day. It’s what Craig and Lori try to model for their family every single day.
What We Believe
We believe the best things in life are built on three things: Faith, Family & Freedom.
These aren’t just words on a bag. They are the reason we get up in the morning, the reason we converted a garage into a roastery, and the reason we pour everything we have into every single roast.
Rooted in faith, we are moved to honor God, family, freedom, and all the good that stems from them. With an eye toward the industrious work ethic of the tradesmen, farmers, factory workers, and craftsmen — and a heart for family, service to others, and liberty — we endeavor to create the best coffee in the world from the heartland of Indiana.
We also believe that generosity is the engine of a thriving community. We support our local church and give back to our community because we believe that when small businesses invest in the people around them, everyone wins. That’s the kind of America we want to be part of building.
The Family
Craig and Lori Weyer are the husband and wife team behind Stay Brewed. They are the parents of seven daughters — yes, seven! The girls have grown up in and around the roastery, doing homeschool work at the kitchen table while the roaster hums in the garage. As a personal touch, every single customer gets a hand-colored picture from one of our daughters. Stay Brewed is not just a family business. It is a business built by a family, for families.
Every roast is crafted by hand in Saint Anthony, Indiana and shipped within 72 hours of roasting — with the roast date printed on every bag. Because great coffee deserves to arrive fresh, and your family deserves nothing less than our best.
