What Is Stay Brewed Coffee? The Story Behind the Brand
By Craig & Lori Weyer | Stay Brewed Coffee & Roastery | Saint Anthony, Indiana
If you’ve stumbled across Stay Brewed Coffee and wondered what exactly you’ve found — a small batch roastery, a family business, a mission-driven brand — the answer is yes. All of it.
Stay Brewed Coffee & Roastery is a hand-crafted, fresh-roasted coffee company built from the ground up in Saint Anthony, Indiana by Craig and Lori Weyer. We roast every batch ourselves in our commercial roastery — the same garage where this whole thing started — and we ship every order within 72 hours of roasting, with the roast date printed right on the bag.
But coffee is really just the beginning of the story.
It Started Before the Business Did
Craig Weyer was five years old the first time he sat across from his grandfather, Lawrence Fritz, before sunrise. Lawrence would rise at five in the morning and Craig would follow, drawn out of bed by the smell of coffee drifting through the house. Lawrence would set out three cookies. They’d dip them into his cup together.
“It was terrible coffee,” Craig will tell you with a grin. “But I took sips.”
It wasn’t the coffee that mattered. It was the company.
That memory — a grandfather and a grandson, quiet in the early morning, cookies and a cup between them — is the heartbeat of everything Stay Brewed is and does. Because Stay Brewed was never really about coffee. It was always about the people around the cup.
From a Garage in Indiana to Front Porches Across America
Craig and Lori launched Stay Brewed Coffee & Roastery in 2019 out of their garage in Saint Anthony, Indiana — a small town rooted in the kind of faith, family, and hard work that built this country.
What started with a small roaster and a big idea has grown into a full commercial roastery. We converted the garage into a licensed commercial kitchen, added a larger roaster alongside the original, expanded our roast catalog, and built a customer base that now spans the country. Stay Brewed ships fresh roasted coffee nationwide, and our roasts are carried by small businesses across several states.
Craig didn’t expect it to grow as fast as it did. “We had thought it would take longer to get customers,” he said early on. “I seriously underestimated how fast this would take off.”
Word spread the way good things do — person to person, cup to cup.
And through all of it, Saint Anthony, Indiana has remained home. It always will be.
What “Stay Brewed” Actually Means
People ask us this all the time. Craig’s answer has never changed:
“Stay Brewed is there to highlight the journey from point A to point B. The backbone of strong communities is a good work ethic, and it’s a sweaty process. We are here to keep people on that journey, whatever it is, on their toes. Coffee’s the original energy drink.”
Stay Brewed is a call to stay the course. To hold fast to the things worth holding onto. To keep going when the morning is hard and the day is long.
It’s what Lawrence modeled — working nights at Alcoa and farming during the day. It’s what Craig and Lori try to model for their family every single day. And it’s the spirit we pour into every single roast.
Stay Brewed. Stay the Course.
What We Believe: Faith, Family & Freedom
These three words aren’t marketing language. They are the reason Stay Brewed exists.
Faith is first — not just in our tagline, but in how we run this business. We are moved to honor God in what we do and how we do it. That means craftsmanship, integrity, and generosity — not because it’s good for business, but because it’s right.
Family is the context for everything. Craig and Lori are the parents of seven daughters. The girls have grown up in and around the roastery, doing homeschool lessons at the kitchen table while the roaster hums in the garage. Stay Brewed is not just a family business. It is a business built by a family, for families.
Freedom is the conviction underneath it all — a belief in the American ideal of industrious, independent people building something real with their own hands. An eye toward the tradesmen, farmers, factory workers, and craftsmen who built this country. A heart for liberty and the communities that thrive when free people pursue good work.
We believe that when small businesses invest in the people around them, everyone wins. That’s why we support our local church and give back to our community. That’s the kind of America we want to be part of building.
What Makes Stay Brewed Coffee Different
There are a lot of coffee brands out there. Here’s what sets Stay Brewed apart:
We roast by hand, in small batches, in Indiana. Every roast is crafted in Saint Anthony — not outsourced, not mass-produced. Craig sources every bean and takes every roast seriously, because great coffee is one of life’s simplest and finest pleasures.
We ship within 72 hours of roasting. The roast date is printed on every bag. Because coffee is a perishable product, and you deserve to know exactly how fresh yours is.
We’re not a corporation. We’re Craig and Lori. When you email us, Craig answers. When you have a problem, we fix it — no red tape, no long forms. The Love It Guarantee exists because we mean every word we put on every bag.
We stand for something. Our values aren’t a brand strategy. They’re how we live. When you buy Stay Brewed, you’re supporting a family in Indiana who is trying to do something right — roast good coffee, raise good kids, and build something worth being proud of.
The Roasts: What We Make
Stay Brewed offers a growing catalog of hand-crafted roasts, each with its own character. This is a sampling of some of our roasts:
Sons & Daughters — A smooth, organic medium roast from the highlands of Guatemala. Buttery vanilla and nougat notes with mild sweetness and a soft, clean finish. The one that feels like home in every cup.
1776 — Bold, smoky, and full-bodied. An organic medium dark roast with rich toffee and nut flavors that hits like a rallying cry. As Craig says: the only thing better than saying 1776 is drinking it.
Cowboy Coffee — A dark, organic roast from Chiapas, Mexico. Smoky and strong with rich dark chocolate and walnut flavors that somehow manage to be clean and smooth all the way through.
Sunday Best — A wet-hulled Sumatra dark roast built for daily drinking. Rich pipe tobacco and dark chocolate notes with a smoked pepper kick and a dark berry finish. Like putting on your Sunday best, every single morning.
Every roast is available in 12 oz and 16 oz bags, whole bean or ground — with eight grind options from coarse French press to fine espresso.
